The theme of the Wine Bar is
the Spanish tapas bar. To this end, the menu is careful chosen to reflect the themes
and style of the tapas meal eaten in Spain. Each of the dishes is a small flavour
of Spain. Depending on the size of the meal you want you can have one, or several of these dishes. Special offers are always available to ensure that you can get
a taste of Spain at a reasonable price. More about Tapas
La Concha is a family owned business; Peter Colvin and daughter Sami Colvin opened its doors in August 2005.
La Concha is the realization of
a dream for the owner Peter Colvin. For many years he wanted to run his own pub
or restaurant
before being offered the present location. Owned by First Capital Connect, the use of the building was suggested
by the Heritage Foundation as a suitable site that would improve the town centre
as it had been empty and boarded up for 13 years. However with Peter's
vision and the use of the many collectible items that Pete has acquired, a major conversion
venture was undertaken and it has now been turned into a Wine Bar with special ambience.
The Heritage Foundation has awarded La Concha the prize for Best New and Refurbished
Shop Front
in 2007.
To accompany the meals, there is a wide selection of wines.
Peter and Sami go to great lengths to ensure a wide and affordable range of quality wines are available and review La Concha wine selections to suit the ever-changing tastes and trends of our customers.
Trips to Portugal, Spain, Australia, South Africa, America, France and regular visits to major international wine exhibitions keep us up to date with all the new and exciting grape varieties. La Concha also involves all staff in the tasting and selection of our new wines.
Review from Letchworth Garden City Community Times

Review from Archers Town & Country - Abode magazine
"A friend of mine who lives in Baldock, had been telling me that there was a great Tapas bar in Letchworth. So one Friday night I picked him up and off we went to LA CONCHA, next to the railway station. When we entered, the place was buzzing and had a very friendly feel about it. We asked for a table but were told sorry we are fully booked for tonight. I expressed my disappointment and a very helpful waitress shifted a few drinking customers around and found us a small place to eat. (Nothing appears to be too much of a problem - a rarity these days)."
"We allowed our waitress to recommend a series of dishes to us and when they arrived, "wow" what a delight. I had found my gastronomic nirvana...from freshly made meat balls to homemade bread with houmas. La Concha is only a small Tapas bar, but it has plenty of atmosphere!"
Good Bit - Great Food
Bad bit - You will need to book
